-Line becomes the path of a point moving in space

-Enclosed shapes, as well as open lines, can be used to produce an infinite variety of abstract and representational forms

-The artist draws the contours of a 3-d form in wire and the viewer fills in the masses by imaginative association

-3-D form is conveyed mostly in places where one piece of wire passes over another

-Wire can create an illusion of solid 3-d form and implied solidity

-Linear forms create virtual volumes that suggest shapes in space by their outlines

-Characterized by straight, wavy, curved, thick, thin, horizontal, vertical, diagonal, zigzagged, dashed or dotted, perpendicular, parallel...

-Process forces simplicity of line and statement, but at the same time it necessitates well-crafted execution

Visual Movement in Wire Sculpture:
-Scribbled wire: airy forms almost seem to be in motion

-repeated lines that are exactly the same length and thickness, but are angled in alternate directions can make a work of art shiver with motion
- Sometimes all that is needed is a suggestion of expressive nature of subject through line use to invoke a sense of movement

REPETITION: The use of the same visual element of effect a number of times in the same composition.
RHYTHM: The quality of form which results from presentation of multiple units in a deliberate pattern at regular intervals or repetitions.
Manipulation of Wire:
-manipulate wire: curving, bending, twisting, crimping,
-Fluting or faceting can create a great sense of repetition (Spikes or other form of surface design that focuses on pattern)
-Hook to connect wire, solder, twist, or use different piece of wire
TENSION: The extension of an object through stretching or bending.
TORSION: The distortion of an object through a twisting movement.
JUNCTION: The place where objects or events meet. A physical intersection between elements or parts.
